Cobá
Site that retains a wide variety of stelae and ca-
lendars, where the Maya kept record on specific
events such as wars, weddings, promotions to
power, among others. Standing out as impor-
tant temples: the church, the observatory and the Nohochmul.
Sitio que conserva gran variedad de estelas o calendarios, donde los mayas
guardaban registros específicos de eventos como: guerras, bodas, ascen-
sos al poder, entre otros. Sobresalen como templos importantes: la iglesia,
el observatorio y el Nohochmul.
Tulum
It is now a major tourist attraction in
the Riviera Maya, and next to it is the
town of the same name. It is a city on
a cliff from where you can appreciate
the beauty of the Caribbean.
Es en la actualidad un gran atractivo turístico de la Riviera Maya
y junto a ella se encuentra la pintoresca población del mismo
nombre. Es una ciudad amurallada en un acantilado, desde don-
de se puede apreciar la belleza del Caribe.

San Gervasio
Archaeological site of the pre-Columbian Mayan civiliza-
tion. Known as Tantun Cuzamil, Mayan for Flat Rock in the
place of the Swallows. The ruins were once a hub of wor-
ship of the goddess Ixchel, deity of the moon, childbirth,
fertility, medicine, and weaving.
Sitio arqueológico de la civilización maya precolombina. Conocido como Tantun Cu-
zamil, en maya “Roca plana en el lugar de las Golondrinas”. Las ruinas fueron una
vez un centro de culto a Ixchel, deidad de la Luna, el parto, la fertilidad, la medicina
y el tejido.
El Meco
Small but important archaeological site of the Early Clas-
sic period (300-600 AD), during which time it was a villa-
ge of fishermen dependent on a regional capital, the city
of Cobá. Located in nirthern Cancún, in Isla Mujeres Bay.
Pequeño, pero relevante sitio arqueológico del periodo Clásico (300-600 dC), época
durante la cual era un caserío de pescadores dependiente de una capital regional, la
ciudad de Cobá. Localizado al noreste de Cancún, en la Bahía de Isla Mujeres.
The Goddess Ixchel
Located in Punta Sur, Isla Mu-
jeres, the Temple is a sample of
the archaeological heritage of
the Maya. Ixchel is the goddess
of the moon, the wife of the Sun,
considered the god of fertility with great healing powers.
Ubicado en Punta Sur, Isla Mujeres, el Templo a la Diosa Ix-
chel es una muestra del legado arqueológico de los mayas.
Ixchel es la diosa de la Luna, esposa del Sol, considerada la
deidad de la fertilidad, con grandes poderes curativos.
